Project Size: 3500 sf
Architect/Engineer:: Fisher Koppenhafer
Owner: Discovery Montessori School, Jacksonvlle Beach, FL
Notable Project Details: Project was built with sustainable features and is on track for LEED Certified designation through the Green Building Certification Institute
The scope of this project included the demolition and recycling of the original administrative trailer and new construction of a 3500 square foot Multipurpose Facility which houses administrative staff, a learning laboratory, a library, and an after-care space. The design team specified recycled and regionally sourced materials that were durable and had a long life cycle. Life cycle cost analysis was assessed by both the design and construction team along with input from the school’s administration to ensure materials specified would withstand the expected foot traffic and impact from the young students using the space. Scope of work included:
- Site Work
- Specialty Carpentry
- Exterior Finishes
- Interior Finishes
- LEED Facilitation
2010 Associated Builders and Contractors: Excellence In Construction Award, Institutional Less than $5M.
The efforts of Mary and her team took care to meet the needs and goals of the owner, designers, students and staff. This 3500 sq ft. building was constructed during the normal operations of the adjacent school on site. Breaking Ground Contracting’s detailed approach and interaction with the team including the owner, design professionals, subcontractors, teachers, students and staff contributed to a very successful project. I look forward to working with Breaking Ground Contracting again.
