JEA Kennedy Substation Control House
Project Profile
The latest new control house in Breaking Ground’s portfolio replaces an aging house in the Talleyrand area for an important expansion of the existing JEA transmission services. Breaking Ground provided turnkey general construction services and coordination with other trades for the Prime Electrical, who completed a Phase I switchyard cable replacement at the existing substation. The new control house is masonry construction with hollow core roof panels, stucco exterior, explosion-proof fan, access control, and includes a battery room, as well as a new bathroom for JEA staff. The slab tolerance is critical to accept the electrical switchgear.
